Budget and Finance
The Budget and Finance Committee has been working hard on ways to balance our budget while keeping taxes from escalating out of control given the current budget deficit. We meet bi-weekly to build analysis, policy, and models that support the work being done by the Treasurer's office.
Village Center Budget
The Budget and Finance Committee has been working with the Recreation Department, led by Renee Lemmerman, to arrive at a pricing model that addresses the current deficit caused by decades of flat rates and increasing expenses. We've arrived at a pricing model, which is in review prior to Board of Trustee approval.
Port Jefferson Village Country Club
The Budget and Finance Committee is working closely with Tom Natola on rates that will enable a benefit to residents and reflect market rates for a course like ours. We are also working together to create a five year capital plan. Further, policy development on Pro Shop retail will incorporate retail best practices to ensure inventory management.
Village and Departmental Reporting
Working closely with the Treasurer's office, we are developing financial reports that both support the clean up work done by the Treasurer, and puts reporting in place that enables Department heads to know at a glance where they are against their budget in order to do real time expense management.
Our Vision
Our vision is to leave Port Jefferson in a better financial position than it is today in 2024 and enable it to continue to provide the highest quality service to it's residents while keeping taxes to a reasonable level.
